what do your agenda and bank account have in common: reserve a budget!

Have you organized a major renovation privately or professionally or budget-managed a major project?

Then you know better than anyone that you have to make choices and concessions: that floor a little cheaper, that garden shed another time, dropping the project party,... or you're heading for a deficit.

Red jaws at the box office?!

Nothing more ambitious than standing at the checkout with a full cart and not seeing the balance appear on the screen enough. Those who have already experienced it - my wife several times, oops - know how it gives you a dark brown feeling, red head and warm body temperature - usually very local and visible. To avoid this, planning is necessary. Ultimately, every cost must be budgeted. What does that mean about your time now

?

Your bank account is the same as your agenda!

Indeed, your agenda is similar to your bank account. The difference is that you have a problem with your bank account when it's empty - because that's when you're going to set priorities - and with your agenda, you get that problem when it's full. How do you deal with this now?

Packages de activi time

Just like every expense represents money, every assignment or task that comes to you - in the form of an email, meeting, an assignment or idea... - is the opposite of a package of time. If you don't take this into account, you will run into the red at some point - over time - and you will usually react: your emotions take over and they are usually not the

best drivers.

Budget your pro activi time!

So reserve a block of time in your agenda for all your future commitments. Fill fill fill your agenda from now on: make a habit of reserving space in your agenda for new incoming work right away.

If you do this consistently, you always have a clear overview of your expenses and it will also be much easier - even more confrontational, by the way - to see if you still have a budget -time- for extra expenses -tasks-.

Provide pre dictivi time!

For the diligent smarts: put all your recurring routine expenses in your agenda! When it comes to your bank account: your expenses for electricity, gas, water... In your work, these are metaphor for your daily, weekly, monthly work that you know will come at you periodically. Put it all in your agenda! This immediately shows how much you are already full/busy and gives the only accurate view of how much space you have left

.

By the way, I myself have been keeping a predictive warning in my agenda for years - Takes a full day appointment - for the last two weeks of June & December and the first week of September as challenging weeks. This is then indicated when planning - i.e. viewing the agenda - and I take it into account when making commitments and managing my team. Once upon a time, there was an HR manager in the room who even planned the illnesses. He had kept a statistics from the last few years and noticed that the disease rate rose every year over a certain period of time. He planned this predictively in his agenda and already took half account of additional interim workers. She was in a production environment

Everything on the agenda? That will be very busy there then!

Right! You look at your bank account/calendar for larger expenses and at your wallet/actions for smaller ones. A healthy rule is: if a task takes longer than half an hour, reserve time in your agenda. Shorter tasks can be added to an action list. Read more about this in sooooo much to do, I still have so much to do... keep an overview of all

your actions.

Even then! You can't foresee everything, right?! Once
again, you are right! There is so much in between, I regularly hear from participants! Does that also apply to you? Be sure to read the blog: use cranes instead of mopping: prevent, buffer and keep

it realistic...

Prioritize?

And if your agenda is still full, it's important to set the right priorities and discuss them with your immediate supervisor, your team. Read all about it in the blog: saying no to your boss in a customer-focused way: how to redefine goals together
