Dismantle time bombs right away: divide your work, estimate time and plan immediately!
Once upon a time... a new project or a complex work to do that requires a lot of action and that triggers something difficult in you... You're afraid to get started, postpone it, leave it in your inbox if it's an email, in or under your stack when it comes to paper, or... -much worse! - lying around in your head like a loose end. You're creating a time bomb
.If you do this more often, your mailbox -or head- will become a veritable minefield, not only a threat to your time management but, above all, to your well-being!
Get in the habit of dismantling everything that comes your way right away, dividing it into steps! The familiar story of eating an elephant. You do that in pieces because it can't get through your mouth opening at all, although I know people who could make a good try

I myself open an action in my action list or appointment in my agenda to immediately note the next steps. Then an initial assessment of the time it takes to complete each step. In this way, a kind of plan of action is created, so that it seems less threatening and more feasible for our brain, with the psychological peace that follows.
In addition, you will notice that making an assignment concrete also makes it easier for our brain to take action. Finally, plan that first step right into your agenda or to-do list so you can get it further out of your head
.And... action!
From now on, create a three-step habit:
1. write down the first - or all - steps, 2. put time aside and 3. plan it
right away.
Also do a catch-up maneuver:
which time bombs in your inbox or head haven't been dismantled yet, what invisible work is still hidden in your head? Pre-launch these bombs with the three-step plan so that they don't explode unexpectedly later and you also get peace of mind today...
Are you a supervisor?
Coach your colleagues and ask them - especially when delegating work - the following questions:
- how are you going to approach it, in what steps?
- what is an achievable deadline for you, where do you still have space in your agenda?
direction and step-by-step plan of action: approximately how long do you think you will need for each step?
to test the real time sentence,
to double-check feasibility in the agenda, how can I support you in this?
to further ensure and support motivation
